Hmm… I Hate Outlines.

Hey, Hey Crash hold up there.
I get it; we need at least some outline. Even if you write on the fly, you usually have an idea of where you are going.

When I say I hate them, I really mean it’s a love-hate relationship. You know those relationships where you scream at each other, then turn around and makeup? To do it again…. and… again…

My first problem with outlines is I never know how many words I’m going to have. I like to have a set amount at least each chapter, but then here comes my outline. Hey, you need a chapter break here, so everything lines up.
Okay, I can keep writing, but I need to change all the blocks in the following chapters to keep them in sync.
I guess it’s not that bad, but I feel like I spend more time than I need should just keeping the outline on track.

If I turn it around, I can usually crank out more words than a normal setting if I have an outline in front of me. Oh, I need to introduce XYZ here, so it makes sense further down in the plot.

Like I said it’s a love hate relationship lol

Me….

Thanks for listening to my rant.
