How To Get Motivated To Write

I was thinking about this the other day. Going through my motions like I normally do. Washing the dishes, Sweeping, doing the cats, taking the dogs out, feeding the kids. Oh, can’t forget about my day job too. It sure would help if I could get motivated to write.

Often I find myself just coming up with excuses, granted they are semi legit, but excuses all the same. By the time I am done I just can’t get in the right headspace to write. Choosing to binge watch some show instead or pick up that new novel to finish. Just the regular routine was putting me behind on my word count goals.

I thought to myself . I need to change my habits.”

While watching a video on writing by Jenna Moreci she mentions just prioritizing what’s important. I know something simple like that should be a given, but when you break it down in your head, what is more important. Your word counts or washing those dishes, usually you can decide what to do first. The dishes are not going anywhere, but those words won’t write themselves.

Just that little tip helped me a lot and I think it might help others, so I tossed it up here.

Thanks,
