7 Billion Outflow From VOO

Ok, Okay, I know I’m just a wannabe writer and there is no place for financials on this site. Well, tough luck I get to write what I want to write about lol. *Joke please don’t leave ;-;

There was the largest outflow from VOO in a single day recorded last week. This is crazy that is $7 Billion. They didn’t quite sell them but exchanged the from the underlying assets it looks like. Weird right?? So who has 7 Billion they could just put in an ETF? Since it it happened on a single day I’m going to draw the conclusion they were a signal entity.

According to Bloomberg the largest holder it Bank of America holding 14 billion. That is a lot of cash. Raymond James Financial Inc is after that holding 5.2 billion. With the two biggest players here we can kinda see it was either a coincidence with some of the smaller holders exchanging them or Bank Of America just exchanged half of their holdings.

To me BAC exchanging the holdings sounds more plausible. There are some concerns around ETF that us little guys really don’t need to worry about much, but having 14 Billion in holdings may have exceeded their risk. Just another hypothesis they could have been making money off the Premium/Discount.

To check that I would have to look at the Premium/Discount at the times of purchase, but I don’t have access to that kind of info so I could only speculate.

Well sorry for the off topic post, but financials is another one of my passions. Says a lot about me I know. Might point you in a closer direction of my day jobs haha.

Thanks for reading!
